Explore the Art and Science of Cooking in Just 10 Weeks

This robust 10-week Culinary Certificate Program is designed as an introduction to the core skills, practices, and theories of culinary arts. With a focus on both savory cooking and baking, this program builds a strong foundation in the kitchen—perfect for those considering a career in the culinary industry.

Through intimate, hands-on lab sessions with a 12:1 student-to-instructor ratio, students learn and practice essential techniques including:

What Will I Learn?

  • Advanced knife skills
  • How to prepare stocks and sauces
  • Fabrication of meats, poultry, and seafood
  • Cooking methods such as roasting, sautéing, grilling, and braising
  • Baking fundamentals and pastry basics
  • Food service safety and sanitation (ServSafe Certification)
  • Basic food and kitchen management
  • Hospitality professionalism (Hospitality Certification)

This course serves as a first step toward a career pathway in the culinary field. Upon successful completion, students may pursue further education at a vocational school or enter the workforce in positions such as prep cook, line cook, garde manger, personal chef, or even food writer.

Coursework includes:

  • Performance in kitchen labs
  • Quizzes and seminar exams

  • Culinary projects and events

  • Final practicum and portfolio

  • Written final exam

Graduates will leave this program not only with practical culinary skills but also with industry-recognized certifications that boost employability and prepare them for the fast-paced world of food service.

Certifications Included:

  • SerSafe Food Handler - Focuses on food safety principles, hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, temperature control, and sanitation.

  • ServSafe Manager - Advanced training for supervisors and managers on establishing a culture of food safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Hospitality Certification - Recognizes proficiency in front-of-house professionalism, guest experience, and workplace communication.

  • RAMP Certification (PLCB Approved) - Learn the four key program components required by the PA Liquor Control Board (PLCB). Once completed, your establishment can apply for official RAMP Certification—valid for two years and essential for safe alcohol service and responsible management practice.
