Position Summary:

The Data and Financial Specialist is a dual-role position responsible for managing data integrity, financial reporting, and operational analysis within a nonprofit organization. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional who can oversee financial processes, maintain accurate records, and analyze program and financial data to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience in both financial management and data administration, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, funding regulations, and organizational goals.

Essential Functions:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee financial data entry, reconciliation, and reporting for grants, funding sources, and operational budgets.
  • Maintain and analyze financial records, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting principles and donor requirements.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support budget development, forecasting, and financial planning for programs and initiatives.
  • Process invoices, monitor accounts payable/receivable, and track expenditures to ensure financial accountability.
  • Assist in preparing financial documentation for audits and grant compliance reviews.
  • Work closely with program managers to align budgets with program goals and funding constraints.
  • Collaborate with external accountants and auditors to ensure accuracy in financial statements and regulatory filings.

Data Management & Analysis:

  • Maintain and manage data tracking systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity of program and financial data.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data to generate reports on program impact, participant outcomes, and organizational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations, maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Generate data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement data collection processes to measure program effectiveness and grant deliverables.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on data management systems and best practices.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for funders, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

Collaboration & Compliance:

  • Work closely with leadership, program staff, and external partners to ensure data-driven financial and programmatic decision-making.
  • Ensure financial transactions and reporting meet the standards of grant agreements, donor requirements, and nonprofit best practices.
  • Assist in streamlining financial and data workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the organization.
  • Support fundraising and grant writing efforts by providing financial data and program metrics.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations, grant compliance requirements, and best practices in nonprofit financial management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, data analytics, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience in nonprofit financial management, accounting, or data analysis preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, data management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and program data.
  • Knowledge of grant compliance, nonprofit financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with CRM, donor management, or financial management software is a plus.
