Am I Ready for Classes?
So, you are finally doing it! You have decided to go back to school to finish your high school diploma. While finishing your diploma is necessary to open many doors, it Is a big step and a big time commitment. Before you take that leap, you must be sure that you are ready. Is this the right time for you?
Do I have reliable transportation?
You will be attending class for a minimum of several months, so you want to be sure you have an affordable option or you have someone who is willing to drive you on a regular basis for the long term. Uber and taxis are not financially realistic for anything other than emergencies. OIC cannot provide transportation or bus passes.
Do I have access to WiFi or the Internet, a computer, lap top, tablet, or smart phone?
OIC is currently conducting classes via the Internet since no face-to-face instruction is permitted. OIC will provide books if you do not have Internet access, but you will need to be able to study independently.
Do I have child care?
Do you have your child enrolled in a day care center or have a reliable person lined up as a babysitter? OIC does not provide child care.
Do I have any medical appointments or other commitments – such as surgery, an out-of-town trip, a job orientation – already scheduled that will cause me to miss many days or weeks of class?
It may be a good idea to get your plans settled and then enroll in class.
Do I need a job now?
If you’re looking for work, you may want to focus on that. Plus, you won’t know which class to choose until you know what hours you’ll be working. Once you get a job, you can select a class that suits your schedule.
