Are You Ready for Classes?

So, you are finally doing it! You have decided to join to our adult education or vocational programs.  Finishing your high school diploma, getting more training or improving your ability to speak English are necessary to open many doors.  But it’s a big commitment. Before you take that leap, you must be sure that you are ready. Is this the right time for you?

DO I HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION?

You will be attending class for a minimum of several months, so you want to be sure you have an affordable option or you have someone who is willing to drive you on a regular basis for the long term. Uber and taxis are not financially realistic for anything other than emergencies. OIC cannot provide transportation or bus passes.

DO I HAVE ACCESS TO WIFI OR THE INTERNET, A COMPUTER, LAPTOP, TABLET, OR SMART PHONE?

OIC is currently conducting both in person and classes via the Internet. OIC will provide books if you do not have Internet access, but you will need to be able to study independently. Some programs require the ability to access online material or participate in video conferencing.  Do you have this ability, or can you come to OIC to access our computers?

DO I HAVE CHILD CARE?

Do you have your child enrolled in a day care center or have a reliable person lined up as a babysitter? OIC does not provide child care.

DO I HAVE ANY MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS OR OTHER COMMITMENTS - SUCH AS SURGERY, AN OUT-OF-TOWN TRIP, A JOB ORIENTATION - ALREADY SCHEDULED THAT WILL CAUSE ME TO MISS MANY DAYS OR WEEKS OF CLASS?

It may be a good idea to get your plans settled and then enroll in class.

DO I NEED A JOB NOW?

If you're looking for work, you may want to focus on that. Plus, you won't know which class to choose until you know what hours you'll be working. Once you get a job, you can select a class that suits your schedule.

IF THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME
WE WILL BE HERE WHEN YOU ARE READY.

IF YOU ARE READY NOW
WE ARE WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY
