These classes are prerequisites to become eligible for OIC-sponsored forklift certification classes at Dauphin County Technical School, Cumberland County Technical School, or York Technical Institute. Students are required to complete a two-day pre-vocational class at OIC. During this class you will learn the fundamentals of operating a basic sit down industrial truck. If you compete this course successfully, you will be eligible to attend a one or two day classroom/skills training session with one of our vocational providers. You will be issued a certificate of completion and a forklift operator’s card.

The pre-training curriculum is designed specifically to prepare all prospective CNA candidates for the coursework and scholarly demands of the CNA Preparatory Training at the Dauphin County Technical School. The subject topics for this 40 hour training included soft skills (e.g., interpersonal skills, team-building, time management, culture differences, and goal-setting) along with related content of becoming a long-term care Nurse Assistant. In addition, literacy skills for interacting with informational text are emphasized along with study and research skills.
As a result of this two-week opportunity, candidates that participated in the Pre-CNA program at Tri-County OIC are able to demonstrate a high level of confidence and competency prior to enrolling into the state-approved Nurse Aide training at the DCT School.
This class is only for students who have successfully passed the pre-screening qualifications. The information below is meant only for students who have already been selected to attend these classes. For information on any upcoming classes, contact Rachel Rebert at (717) 238-7318, or register at our website at: http://tricountyoic.org/register/
