Adult Learning Center Opened in Early July
The Adult Learning Center opened to onsite students in early July. Matt Lyter from Tri-County OIC is the facilitator for the classes held in the Boyd Building. He writes:
Greetings from the Adult Learning Center here at the Boyd Building! We are excited to share an update with you about what is happening here! In the age of COVID-19, we have had to make many adjustments to fit the times. All the changes are exciting, though! Most of our students and volunteers are doing a terrific job of teaching and learning in Zoom sessions. Monday through Wednesday, eight classes are running online to help students at various levels with many different subjects. All of this is for students to complete their high school equivalencies. For the smaller number of students who prefer to learn in person, the Adult Learning Center at Pine Street is currently running classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at two different levels. While students and teachers are not physically close to each other during this time, the goal of finishing their high school objective is close to students’ hearts!
Would you like to help? The Adult Learning Center is seeking volunteers for in-person classes on Math and Science for the Tuesday and Wednesday evening classes in the Boyd Building. All the planning on what to teach is done, but we need your help to reach out to the students. If you are interested, please contact Matt at mlyter@tricountyoic.org or 717-805-0406. Why not come join us?
